ODE

"We are the music-makers, 
And we are the dreamers of dreams, 
Wandering by lone sea-breakers, 
And sitting by desolate streams. 
World-losers and world-forsakers,

I have always really liked this poem for many reasons. One because the first line of it was quoted in the very famous "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" so obviously I'm not the only one who really enjoys it. I also like this poem for the way that it feels when you say it; it flows so nicely, almost like a song, in that way it draws you in. I like how every other sentence has the same ending, but somehow doesn't come off a cheesy. But if you look past that what I really like is what the poem is saying. We are the controllers of our own destiny and for the things we can't control, we control our reactions to it. "We are the music makers", meaning if you will, that we set the beat of our drums and walk to it however we want. Controlling your own destiny. "We are the dreamers of dreams", meaning you set your limits, what you aspire to be or achieve, its all up to you.
