I have gotten the chance to go back and tell my self a few things that I have learned over the past years of my life. This is exciting to me, because I love a quote my Mark Twain that says "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." The first time I saw this quote was about five years ago, and I wondered what I would be like in the future, A.K.A now October 6, 2015.
When I first saw the quote, I had just gotten an interest in makeup and the beauty industry. I had been stealing makeup from my moms make-up bag, and using it then washing it off. I did this in secret because I knew I was still young and too young to be wearing blush daily. I would watch tutorials on YouTube, learning techniques, and discovering new products. Then finally when Halloween rolled around, I wanted to be a Pop-Star, which required some make-up and glitter.
So what happened after Halloween, I used that glitter gel daily. I even used it for school. Not too long later my mom took me to Sephora to get a little real make-up. The Primary motivation was because of her embarrassment towards the glitter all over. I enjoyed it, the make over, application process, and even being inside of Sephora. I knew then that this was something I wanted to do forever.
So hear goes nothing...
Dear Me,
I know you want a legacy, hearing every famous persons story. Inspiring you to do great things, you have already got that potential in you. Be brave. Dream big, and if that seems easy, than its too small. I know you want to keep what you like on the quiet side, but talking is what gets you places that are unbelievable. This is what you like is not just a phase, if that's what your scared of, don't be. Speaking of "if", don't let that rule your life. "If" is toxic, because you have what it take, but you live in doubt. IF you don't do something, then something will happen. Living like this is not living, it's restricting.
The sky's not the limit for Jack and the Bean Stalk, so why should it be for you. Being brave is not being a savior, or a prince, but it's being different, eating lunch alone, discussing Shakespeare in AP English. No matter how big or small your dreams are, be fearless and brave. So learn Calculus and fail, learn Spanish and fail. All you have to do is do it. Believe it.
Now if you were to tell me, I would be talking with editors of magazines I would have started sooner. Started soaping, talking and not caring about what others think. I would of embraced my self instead of pleasing others.
~Future Me
Really interesting Stacey so glad you decided to embrace your true self, you really are a super special, kind and loving person and I'm glad you have realized you need to do what makes you happy as opposed to what makes others happy (even if you didn't realize it a little sooner) now that you have there is nothing standing in your way.

DeleteI really enjoyed reading this because I thought it was very sweet and inspirational. The Mark Twain quote that you talked about is something that I feel is so true but I have never thought about it that way before; the things we don't do are gonna be the things we regret. I makes me think something like for example, even though I may say something stupid or embarrassing now, thats not what is going to matter in 20 years. This also reminds me a lot of my little sister which is another reason I loved reading it. She loves make up and giving herself, and whoever will let her, makeovers. She is also someone who is bold and adventurous and does what she wants so I think that she would really appreciate the quote as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you that is so sweet!!!
